She studied at Toho Gakuen College in Tokyo, graduating from there in 1990. This was followed by further studies with Sandor Végh at the Mozarteum.
She has been a member of the Camerata Salzburg since 1990 and took over as section leader of the second violins in 2007. She has also performed with numerous renowned ensembles, such as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, she served as deputy concertmaster of the Orchestre d’Auvergne from 1993 to 1995. As a chamber musician, she has appeared at the Lockenhaus Music Festival, the Tartini Festival in Piran, the Rheingau Festival and numerous major music festivals in Japan, amongst others.
Her interest in historical performance practice led her to the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in 2007 to study Baroque violin with Petra Müllejans. She also attended courses with Gottfried von der Goltz, Giuliano Carmignola and Enrico Gatti.
She completed her studies in 2009 and has since performed as a Baroque violinist alongside, amongst others, Karl Kaiser, Michael Schneider and Kristin von der Goltz, with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, La Stagione Frankfurt, the Münchner Hofkapelle, the English Baroque Soloists and the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble.
She has also been a member of the Basel Chamber Orchestra since 2009.

A conversation with Yukiko Tezuka
What is it like for you to play in a chamber orchestra?
It feels like bringing out your individuality, whilst at the same time being able to harmonise.
What do you want to convey to the audience at your concerts?
I want to give the audience healing energy and vitality.
What is the most important moment for you during a concert?
It’s the moment just before the first note is played – the silence, the inspiration and the concentration.
What do you find particularly appealing about the CAMERATA Salzburg?
Passion & energy.
What has been your most memorable experience with the CAMERATA Salzburg so far?
It was my first concert at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (still with Sándor Végh), because the audience threw red carnations onto the stage as they applauded us. An unforgettable moment! At the Lockenhaus Festival, we played a sensational performance of ‘A Little Night Music’. We’d had a rather gruelling rehearsal, but a miracle happened during the concert! It brought tears to my eyes.
