Inside Klassik
Through an in-depth exploration of specially selected compositions by, for example, Shostakovich or Beethoven on themes such as revolution, rebellion, censorship and conformity, the young people immerse themselves in the very specific musical language, the period in which the work was composed and the circumstances of its creation, as well as the emotional expression and interpretation of the work in question.
The pupils experiment with the work. They break it down into its constituent parts, enabling them to focus on individual parts or various combinations. Once the individual parts have been reassembled, the pupils gain a deeper understanding of the composition’s complexity and its genesis.
Exploring, discussing, feeling
In the four workshops spread throughout the school year, the young people gained a basic understanding of classical music and learnt about significant compositions in the context of their political and social environment. In the process, topics relevant to this age group are explored, discussed and debated in relation to the musical pieces; connections are made to the young people’s emotional world; and an effort is made to engage with the participants in their everyday lives.
A musical journey
Particularly in these challenging times, when young people are exposed to a wide variety of influences and opinions that are often difficult to channel, CAMERATA aims, through its workshops ‘CAMERATA Soundscapes’ to spark discussion and invite young people to embark, together with the musicians under the direction of Nanni Malm, on a journey that is at once emotional, historical, socio-political and musical.
