Making music together is not only fun, but also enriches one’s personality. With CAMERATA Young, children and young people develop social skills such as learning to adapt closely to others, interact and listen to one another within a group.
At nursery – ‘Papageno goes to nursery’
To be able to appreciate the subtle nuances of music, a solid foundation is required. Even at nursery age, an appreciation of classical music can be fostered through play.
The children sing, clap or move to the music of Mozart, Haydn or Schubert, dancing to a polka or a Ländler. Armed with this music, the CAMERATA takes the children on a musical journey around the world, woven into an adventurous story. Along the way, the children, together with the ostrich, the sparrow, the elephant, the lady frog and the crocodile queen, discover new sounds, rhythms and instruments, and experience the joy and sense of togetherness that making music together creates.
In primary schools – ‘Papageno Goes to School’
As well as fostering a passion for classical music, ‘Papageno Goes to School’ focuses on themes such as engaging with music, working together in a group and learning the importance of interaction and team spirit. Through a variety of specially designed games, exercises, activities and tasks, the children dance and sing together, and they conduct, paint and compose. They listen attentively and explore what they feel when listening to music.
As explorers, actors, conductors and musicians, the children come to realise for themselves what a wonderful role music can play in life. Visits to orchestra rehearsals and discussions with the conductors and soloists round off the educational programme.
In the Foundation Year at the Diakonie
Sharing the music of the CAMERATA with young people with disabilities is a deeply fulfilling and moving source of inspiration for the orchestra, leading the musicians back to the very source of their artistic being through dialogue and human connection. Music education doesn’t get any better than this! Four times a year, the musicians of CAMERATA make music, dance, laugh and marvel with great enthusiasm alongside the pupils of the Diakonie Salzburg orientation stage. The focus of this collaboration is on conveying emotional diversity through music. It can help young people express feelings such as joy or sadness, find comfort or achieve a sense of calm. Through meaningful and playfully presented experiences, the young people feel the emotional power of music. The workshops in the orientation stage are supported by the Rotary Club Salzburg Nord.
