Silvia Schweinberger was born in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg.
After completing her A-levels at the music grammar school in Feldkirch, she began studying concert violin with Professor Ernst Kovacic at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, graduating in 1995.
A period of study abroad in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor David Takeno, and her in-depth study of historical performance practice, led to her working as a freelance musician with renowned ensembles such as the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique under the direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Academy of Ancient Music and others.
Since 2000, Silvia Schweinberger has been based in Salzburg and has increasingly turned her attention back to other musical styles. She has been invited to take part in projects with the Austrian Ensemble for New Music (oenm) and the Klangforum Wien .
At the same time, she is committed to music education and develops programmes for children for the Toihaus Theatre in Salzburg and the Mozarteum Foundation.
Since 1998, she has been a member of the ensemble The English Concert under Trevor Pinnock, Andrew Manze and Harry Bicket.
From 1999 to 2007, she was a member of the ensemble Amsterdam Baroque, serving as section leader under the direction of Ton Koopman, whom she also accompanied on numerous tours as a chamber music partner.
From 2005 to 2017, Silvia Schweinberger was concertmaster and artistic director of the Vorarlberg Baroque Orchestra Concerto Stella Matutina.
Since 2020, she has been a member of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
As a guest concertmaster, she performs with numerous ensembles, such as the Academia Jacobus Stainer, the Ensembles Musica Antiqua Salzburg and the ensemble la Banda, .
She has been a member of the Camerata Salzburg since 2011.
