The Belgian violinist Maxime Michaluk (born in Namur in 1994) trained at the IMEP under Igor Tkatchouk and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under Igor Ozim and Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet). Masterclasses with, amongst others, Eberhard Feltz and György Kurtág have shaped his artistic profile.
He is a prize-winner at international competitions such as the Concours Grumiaux, the Concours Vieuxtemps and the European Lions Club Competition, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Europe and Japan.
As a founding member of the Adelphi Quartet (2017–2024), he won prizes at the Wigmore Hall Competition, the Premio Paolo Borciani and the Heidelberg String Quartet Festival; the ensemble has appeared at major festivals and has been broadcast by BR, SWR and NDR, amongst others.
Maxime performs regularly with the CAMERATA Salzburg, is concertmaster of the Boho Strings, and collaborates with Utopia (Teodor Currentzis) and other ensembles.

Describe CAMERATA in three words in your native language:
Sensitivity, listening, harmony
How does it feel for you to play in a chamber orchestra?
It feels completely natural, as I come from the world of string quartets, to which I have devoted ten years of my life. Even though it’s a larger ensemble, it’s still all about listening, responding and connection. That’s what I love about music: the chance to create special moments every time we get to make music together.
If Mozart were still alive, what would you like to say to him?
Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful legacy! Let’s make music together now – and have a little drink whilst we’re at it.
