Josef Radauer, principal double bassist with CAMERATA, was born in Salzburg and studied under Alfred Bürgschwendtner, Alois Posch and Klaus Stoll at the Mozarteum (concerto diploma with distinction). The musician bridges the gap between serious and light-hearted music. As a trained dulcimer player with roots in Alpine folk music, and as a dance band and brass band musician playing the trombone, tenor horn or tuba, he nevertheless feels just as at home in the world’s great concert halls with his regular orchestra, CAMERATA, and his double bass. Within his wide-ranging musical activities, ‘Sepp’ Radauer also serves as bandmaster of the Aigen Traditional Music Band, director of the Tobi Reiser Ensemble, and director and author of the Salzburg Passion Singing and the Salzburg Shepherds’ Advent; together with his ensemble ‘Radau & co”, he organises a wide variety of concerts for children and young people, including for the Mozarteum Foundation. Furthermore, developing programme concepts is a central focus of his work. The main emphasis is on the exclusive concert series of the Salzburg Musikverein, but he also regularly devises programme concepts for the Camerata Salzburg.
