Born in Budapest in 1965, he grew up there in a family of musicians. Even at the age of three, he wanted to play the violin. He had his first violin lessons at the age of six.
At the age of just twelve, György Acs was accepted into the Béla Bartók Conservatoire in Budapest. In 1981, he won the national János Koncz Competition for young violinists.
From 1983, he continued his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. His teachers there included György Kurtág and Vilmos Szabadi. In the same year, the Budapest Festival Orchestra was founded, and he was a member from the very beginning.
At that time, he attended masterclasses, in particular with Sándor Végh.&
In 1987, he won second prize at the Carl Flesch Competition for Young Musicians in Hungary.
In 1989, he completed his diploma in concert performance.
Immediately afterwards, he was invited to join the Keller Quartet as second violin.
György Acs has been a member of the Camerata Salzburg since 1991.
Alongside his unwavering love and loyalty to this ensemble, he also enjoys playing chamber and ensemble music in other groups from time to time.
