Christoph Hipper completed his bassoon studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under Professors Milan Turković, Daniele Damiano and Richard Galler, graduating with distinction, and was awarded the Austrian State Prize.
Since 1988, the Rosenheim-born musician has been a bassoonist with the Camerata Salzburg, where Sandor Vegh and Leonidas Kavakos in particular had a formative influence on his musical development.
With the Camerata and artists such as Sir András Schiff, Sir Roger Norrington, Murray Perahia, Franz Welser-Möst and many other outstanding conductors and soloists, he has performed at the most important international festivals.
At the invitation of Sir András Schiff, he has also been playing with the Cappella Andrea Barca since 2016.
As assistant to Prof. Richard Galler, he taught the bassoon class at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg from 1997 to 2004.
The Ventus Quintet Salzburg is at the heart of his chamber music activities.
In addition, he invents and builds innovative machines and tools for reed-making for oboists and bassoonists.
