Born in Cesena in 1970, he studied bassoon in Italy at the Bruno Maderna Conservatoire in Cesena and subsequently studied with Eberhard Marschall at the Munich University of Music, where he was awarded his masterclass diploma in 1995.
In 2001, he performed the world premiere of *Capriccio per Fagotto e grande Orchestra*, attributed to Giuseppe Verdi, at the Todi Municipal Theatre during the Todi Music Fest.
He has worked as principal bassoonist with several orchestras, including: the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Camerata New York, the Cadaqués Orchestra, the Basel Sinfonietta, the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Arturo Toscanini in Parma, the Accademia Bizantina in Ravenna, and the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari.
Since 2003, he has been principal bassoonist with the Camerata Academica Salzburg Orchestra and, at the same time, held the same position with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe on a regular basis from 2003 to 2010.&
He is the founder and principal bassoonist of the Città Aperta Orchestra and, as a soloist, has recorded around fifty soundtracks for film and television.
In 1990, he won the national competitive examination for teaching posts at Italian conservatoires and, in the 1993–1994 academic year, was appointed as a bassoon teacher, teaching at the conservatoires in Campobasso and Trieste. He is currently a bassoon teacher at the Antonio Buzzolla Conservatoire in Adria and also teaches on specialised courses at the Bruno Maderna Conservatoire in Cesena. He is regularly invited by the Guildhall School, the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London to give masterclasses.
