Grimaud

Hélène Grimaud

Whether it's Bach's Chaconne in Busoni's piano version, a Rachmaninov sonata, or monumental piano concertos by Beethoven and Brahms, Hélène Grimaud delivers with tremendous energy and powerful touch. Her playing features monumental bass chords and brilliant treble cascades. From a Romance in a Mozart concerto and an Intermezzo by Brahms to a slow Bartók concerto movement and a piece by Silvestrov, Grimaud's hands stride and glide over the keyboard, producing an enchantingly vibrant sound and a calm, assured movement.

The French pianist has captivated the music world for over 30 years with her broad musical range and crystal-clear, intoxicating performances. After an inspiring initial encounter with the Camerata at a festival in her hometown of Aix-en-Provence in the mid-2010s and a delightful CD recording three years ago featuring music by Mozart and Silvestrov, she continues her collaboration with a repertoire spanning from Mozart to the aforementioned composers. Hélène Grimaud, who has studied under renowned teachers and patrons such as Leon Fleisher and Daniel Barenboim, has performed as a soloist with top international orchestras and esteemed conductors, and she gives solo recitals in the world's major concert halls.

She has recorded numerous acclaimed albums for Deutsche Grammophon. Beyond her musical pursuits, Grimaud is also a dedicated conservationist, human rights activist, and author. She founded the Wolf Conservation Center in Upper New York State, is a member of "Musicians for Human Rights," and has written several books, including "Wolfssonate," "Das Lied der Natur," "Variations sauvages," "Leçons particulières," and "Retour à Salem."
